Heritage in motion: The thread that weaves an entire network.

Anyone who knows about fabrics understands the importance of choosing the right yarns. Not just any material is viable. Not just any color, not just any thickness will withstand the density of the weave or the external conditions to which it is exposed. The same happens with human tissues. The appropriate thread is required to weave a large net.

The thread that holds the weave together

The Entre Soles y Lunas Foundation emerged as a project in 2006 in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay, and in 2011 ended up consolidating itself as an entity determined to improve the quality of life of people based on three pillars: heritage, migration and sustainability, articulated with social, economic, environmental, cultural and spiritual aspects.

The Foundation Entre Soles y Lunas emerged as a project in 2006 in Montevideo, Uruguay, and in 2011 it established as an entity committed to improving people's quality of life based on three pillars: heritage, migration, and sustainability, linked to social, economic, environmental, cultural, and spiritual aspects.

In order to carry out its current programs and projects, and throughout all these years, the Foundation has relied on partnerships and agreements with government bodies, academic institutions, international and social organizations.

After a long period of analysis, field work, research and observation of diverse territories and human contexts, the General Director and promoter of the Foundation, Doris Helena Rojas, elaborated the “thread” with which she would weave the entire fabric of Entre Soles y Lunas: the concept of Heritage in Movement.

Structuring messages

“Each of us is Heritage in Motion, and we should recognize how important we are” – Doris Helena Rojas – Doris Helena Rojas

The idea of Heritage in Motion refers to the fact that every human being on Earth has a history, a cultural background, a contribution as an individual to the community and, above all, a dynamic identity. This concept places people as heritage, that is, attributes value to them for humanity and gives a particular significance to their capacity to contribute to and transform their own life experience as well as that of their environment. The mobile character of the heritage we are lies in our drive and our right to migrate and to discover, visit, pass on, and practice life in places beyond our origins, as has always been the case throughout history. We are walking logbooks, and, as Doris says, it is up to us to think and act in pursuit of that.

This idea-message gives structure and direction to the entire Entre Soles y Lunas Foundation, on which programs and projects such as Patrimonio para la Regeneración, Universo MOLA, Molitas and Lana Viva depend. All of them are built on clear and current foundations such as sustainable fashion, regenerative action and early education.

The quality and firmness of a consistent weave is given by the material of its threads, the hands that weave them, the care with which they are treated, the commitment to the task. In the same way, a network is built, a web of wills willing to support a cause. This is how Entre Soles y Lunas developed and continues to grow. Threaded by the message of Patrimonio en Movimiento, it continues in its purpose to repair and regenerate the tissues necessary to lead kinder, more integrated and conscious lives.
