Throughout the history of humanity, the migratory movement has been part of the construction of territories; Men and women have migrated since before the formation of borders and today they continue to do so internally and externally, influenced and affected by a variety of situations that drive their displacement in search of better living conditions on a global level.

Today, we know about migration issues, especially from the media who record it in a generic way, but if we follow up on data issued by studies and research on the subject, we can show and break down how migratory flows develop by gender. and trends which allows us to analyze migration in depth.

According to the reports and data issued, a significant increase in migration can be identified worldwide, especially among women and as a result of labor demand with respect to domestic tasks, care, care of infants or the elderly.

These investigations also provide information on the irregularities and dangers that women experience in these processes, caused by violations of their labor rights, as well as the risks they experience when migration is irregular.

Furthermore, when one does not know which labor rights are accessible, which control bodies exist in labor matters, and one does not know how to acquire protection and security, incorporation into those markets becomes complicated without falling into abuse and exploitation. “Given this reality, it is necessary to work on the economic empowerment and autonomy of migrant women, through policies, projects and programs that allow gender equality to be incorporated into the actions of national and local governments, international agencies and community organizations. civil society. “(Escobar, 2022)

According to the Planning Guide: Migrant Women and Livelihoods, entities such as the UNDP, in collaboration with the IOM and the ILO decided to promote public policy processes through projects and strategies that help improve the quality of life of migrant women.

Below, some aspects will be mentioned, where recommendations are proposed to facilitate the integration of migrant women into the labor market:

1. Regularization of immigration status and recognition of rights:

Regulating migration is the first step as a policy or measure that will favor everything related to the recognition of the economic rights of migrants at a general level. Since they will be able to aspire to decent employment, social security, health and other basic rights that are essential for human beings. If the State or government of the host country implements legal conditions of full and fair employment, abuse, workplace harassment and exploitation of people's rights will be considerably reduced.

2. Validation of degrees and work experience:

By validating the studies and professional experience, it will allow women to have economic strengthening with a contribution “to the development of the markets and value chains of the destination countries” (Escobar, 2022)

3.  Employability.

By embracing measures that prioritize social equity, labor standards will be made effective and will contribute “to the training and job training of migrant women, more specifically through functional literacy processes, knowledge of the local language, notions in information, soft skills and technical training and training.” (Escobar, 2022).

4. Entrepreneurship.

To develop a strong entrepreneurship it is necessary for a person to develop sustainable livelihoods. Not only does this require skills and competencies, but also opportunities in the market that allow innovative action and/or meet a need in it.

5. Financial inclusion and access to credits and financing.

Migrant women have had to face countless adversities to be able to access credit and financing both in their countries of origin and in the countries of destination. For this reason, it is crucial to break these barriers through organized collaboration between government and financial entities.

6. Strengthening the participation and association of migrant women.

“To facilitate and promote the integration of migrant women in host countries, it is necessary to strengthen their organizations, which provide support and advice on issues related to the defense and protection of their labor and social rights.” (Escobar, 2022).
