The countdown has already been activated for the inauguration of 2022 Biofair in Uruguay, which will take place between October 14 and 16 in Grauert Park in Montevideo. Under the motto “I Lived Consciously, I Consumed Responsible”, this is the largest event on sustainability in that country. It should be noted that it will be a carbon neutral event. The CO2 emissions generated will be compensated by The Carbon Sink.
This will be the ideal space to learn about ventures, companies and projects that work and innovate in different Bioareas: architecture, well-being, gardening, mobility, energy, fashion, product, design, ecotourism, market, among others. One of these entities is the Entre Soles y Lunas Foundation (ESL), which will participate with a meeting point to socialize its lines of work related to migration, heritage and sustainable fashion and to publicize brands and ventures from the southern cone. “Through our MOLA Universe program we intend to generate traction throughout the entire textile and fashion production chain to activate processes to strengthen the social fabric, protect the environment, and rescue cultural and heritage values. Thus, development in society is encouraged, taking into account the entire generational scale of the population,” explains the general director of ESL, Doris Helena Rojas. Likewise, the purpose of this organization is to encourage the commitment of citizens in relation to solidarity and teamwork to improve the quality of life and its significance through creativity.
At Biofair, ESL will hold two interesting talks. The first is called “Changing the world one garment at a time”, by the director of Universo MOLA, Valentina Suárez, who will talk about the true meaning and impact that fashion has on the economy, society, the environment and the generation. awareness about the impact of fashion on everyday life. Meanwhile, Doris Helena Rojas will lead the presentation “Heritage for Regeneration”, stating that “when sustainability is no longer enough, it is essential to understand the importance of learning and internalizing the need to regenerate ourselves in all aspects of life. Thus, it is possible to strengthen ourselves socially, economically, environmentally, culturally and spiritually, understanding how heritage is a vital factor in the consolidation of society based on the concepts and contexts of each place and its people,” comments the expert.
In its first version in 2021, Uruguay Biofair received 6,000 visitors with a vision based on transformation to achieve a path towards sustainable development based on collaborative work. This year the program includes activities and experiences such as workshops, talks, wellness spaces, design and fashion, sustainable architecture, electric mobility, renewable energy, sustainable tourism, gastronomy, circular design, recycling and compost, a space for children and music shows. Its organizer, Mariana Torres, believes that “to achieve the changes that we so much want and need, it is essential to make alliances, articulate efforts between government, companies, entrepreneurs and civil society. Biofair seeks to create a favorable environment for this to come to fruition.”
