In most countries, migration is an important workforce represented in professional services and various trades. This foreign labor force is the driving force that many so-called developed countries take advantage of, often with low salaries; situation that the migrant accepts because he needs the resources, becoming an important part in the economic favoring, directly and indirectly, both to the country of origin and the destination. And this is an important aspect to keep in mind because in these processes, relationship conflicts also arise, especially when coexistence or inclusion does not develop harmoniously or when the presence of foreigners is considered a threat to the natives and their jobs. .
Therefore, it is extremely important to have support that provides help so that inclusion towards new territories and societies is more directed without leaving aside the personal contribution, since it is vital that people are flexible and tolerant to know how to enter into the processes. of acceptance in cultural diversity and this is best known by the entities and people of the place, who can generate more precise actions that influence good coexistence.
To achieve this effectively, in most countries there are entities that operate at the local level to help in the processes of “intercultural mediation.” This intermediation is very interesting to promote integration between people who belong to different cultures because they know the territory and know what the appropriate processes are to make a positive change in relationships with the aim of promoting healthy communication. These entities can implement proposals that benefit people, groups and institutions with significant ethnocultural differences not only towards migrants but also with the natives themselves and where dialogue is opened in order to generate work environments that are as healthy and productive as possible. . To achieve this, some companies and states encourage these participations and accompany them with information and assertive communication through workshops, meetings, documents and formats.
This cultural mediation is more than necessary for any social and work environment; For this reason, some countries support these processes to minimize aspects such as discrimination, racism, xenophobia and rejections due to labor issues, among others, towards migrants. Unfortunately, it is not a process that is provided in all territories and we still have a fragmented planet where people are stigmatized by place of origin, culture, language, skin color and many other things that should not exist since we are a diverse world.
When you migrate, it is very important to be informed, to know where to go to ask for help at the destination, to know what the new territory and its culture are like, as well as all the aspects inherent to the possibilities to establish life in a dignified and safe way.
It is important to keep in mind that when a locality refers to a foreigner, this is to “refer to people of immigrant origin who often have the citizenship of the country in which they reside” (ASOCIACE PRO INTERKULTURNI PRÁCI, 2022). Foreigners, when making their move, whether national or international, have the duty to establish an equanimity between coexistence in a new environment and the cultural acceptance of both themselves and those around them.
